Notarial Limitations Policy

Northof60° Services, as a commissioned Notary Public, may decline to perform a notarization if any of the following apply:

The document is incomplete, contains blank signature lines, or is otherwise not ready for notarization

The signer does not have valid, unexpired photo identification.

(see our ID requirements page)

The signer is not present, or refuses to appear in person before the notary

The signer does not understand the document or is not aware of the act being performed

The signer appears to be under duress, coercion, or undue influence

The document is suspicious, forged, or appears to be illegal

The request requires the notary to perform an act that violates Alaska law or exceeds notarial authority

(e.g. backdating, providing legal advice, or notarizing certain documents restricted by statute)

The signer refuses to take an oath or affirmation, when required for a jurat

The notary believes that proceeding would compromise the integrity, legality, or impartiality of the notarization

If any of these conditions occur, the $75 minimum service fee remains non-refundable due to time, travel, and availability being reserved for this appointment.
